Looking at how to reduce amount of ACL injuries for females and how we could support during potential rehab
Studies have shown that 70-80% of ACL injuries in female football players incurred through non-contact situations, usually when braking, pivoting or landing in awkward positions. This largely depends on muscle imbalance, muscle strength, and the movable knee joints.
Research
Introduction to a team that has 3 people in different parts of the rehab process of ACL injury (2 out of 3 has been through this process before)
Glimps of what the teams are doing to prevent knee injuries, workouts and movements. SSK the team is working out 10 TIMES / WEEK + 2 INDIVIDUAL WORKOUTS (observation & Interview)
" This year we will be changing our knee-workout, focusing on working out in the extreme knee positions that the players often end up in during the game, stop pivoting and side-stepping"
Causes that can affect if you will get an ACL injury, some can be affected som some can’t
Correlation angle between hip and knee - Q-Angle
Correlation strength between front (quadriceps) and back (hamstring) thigh muscle
Tiredness - muscles ability to react fast in situations when the user is experiencing instability
In case of an injury the all can be reconstructed through surgery, this will follow with at least 6-8 months rehab
